Encina Complex Upgrades

Project Description

This project will establish an International Studies hub by adding a connective element between Encina Commons and Encina Hall.

The office space addition on the back of Encina Commons will be removed and replaced with a large courtyard, accessible by new stairs from Bechtel Conference Room in Encina Hall, as well as a new grand opening from Encina Commons. The original lobby in Encina Commons will be restored as an activity space. A bridge across the new open lobby will connect both wings of the second floor. The original chandeliers will be restored and rehung. Remodeling of office space for the Freeman Spogli Institute and Humanities and Sciences faculty and staff; a seismic strengthening of the original construction; and installation of fire sprinklers and an elevator complete the project.
